Hostage Incident Management Seminar

InterAction is hosting a Hostage Incident Management seminar on January 15, 2008 in Washington D.C. This topic usually doesn't get a lot of coverage in typical humanitarian security training offerings, and it's nice to see InterAction stepping up to the plate to share information. Seating is limited. For more information, contact John Schafer at: jschafer@interaction.org

"POLICY ON DRIVING AT NIGHT IN AN INSECURE EENVIRONMENT."
In the light of what has happened recently in Burundi, surely there is a lack of communication as to what took place on Monday 31st December in the Eastern part of the Districtand Town of Ruyigi, 109miles east of Bujumbura on the Tazanian Border.

Despite Burndi lifting its National Curfew the UN recommended that all personnel were to remain in their rooms from 22.00 hours till 06.00 am, as Personnel were advised not to travel at night.
Especially on the main road into Bujumbura and the outside area borders. This included certain streets and areas that were off limits.

If this was the case, why are polices so vareid on this subject?
